Chicken pot pie has been one of my favorite foods since I was a little kid. With its crispy crust at the top and deliciously hot filling inside, this classic home meal could warm me instantly even on the coldest days. Unfortunately, it’s high calorie and fat content made them a double-edged sword since it would keep me warm during winter but at the expense of my weight. However, I was lucky enough to stumble upon Nutrisystem’s Chicken Pot Pie and they’ve been a part of my freezer ever since.
IT’S A HEALTHY COMFORT FOOD THAT I CAN INDULGE ON
Sometimes I wonder if most diets were made to punish its followers, as they consist of meals that lack taste or are simply too light on the stomach. But Nutrisystem’s Chicken Pot Pie shattered my preconceived notions that diet food was bland and that comfort food is bad for my weight. Combining savory chicken breast, pot pie crust, onions, carrots, peas, and an assortment of natural veggies, this powerful mixture has all it takes to keep me happy during the cold winter nights.
The small container includes a single Chicken Pot Pie portion, which is all I need to fill myself. Despite its rich flavor and ingredients, this Chicken Pot Pie barely contains 9 g of fat, which makes digestion easier. But more importantly, each meal comes with 270 calories, 35g of carbs, and 12g of protein which provide me with much-needed energy after a hard day of work.
THE FLAVOR IS UP THERE WITH THE BEST FROZEN POT PIES
However, what really makes this product shine in my eyes is its taste. After all, what’s the point of a comfort food if it doesn’t taste good? Nutrisystem’s Chicken Pot Pie is an amazing compromise between taste and nutritional value. Not only is the crust crispy but the sauce is both savory and there’s plenty of it. So much, in fact, that it’s better to pour it into a bowl and eat it there than to do it on the container.
The use of red bell peppers in the mixture gives it an unusual taste to this Chicken Pot Pie, but one that sets it apart from the rest. The flavor of the peppers isn’t overwhelming, although it is something that could displease Chicken Pot Pie purists. Overall, the flavor is amazing, especially considering that this is a diet comfort food.
MAKING A HEALTHY CHICKEN POT PIE HAS NEVER BEEN EASIER
Although not as good as homemade Pot Pies, Nutrisystem’s Chicken Pot Pie is so easy to make and so rewarding to eat that I find myself going back to it again and again. Its preparation is simple enough that I can make dinner from scratch or take it to work in the morning without needing to use a slow oven.
When I was young, it used to take my mom some two hours to make a Chicken Pot. Now, with the power of a microwave, I can do one myself in a fraction of that time. I just have to heat one for 45-60 seconds, remove the crust from the pouch, and then heat it for another 15 seconds. In total that’s only about a minute that I have to spend in the kitchen while the rest of the night I can sit back watching TV with my family. Pretty amazing, right?
